It’s a Game Boy icon!

Of all the tech I’ve ever owned, I think I cherished my original Game Boy the most. I took that thing EVERYWHERE. When the screen got too scratched to see through, I pried the plastic shield off so I was just looking at the glass below. I still have that Game Boy. I remember studying the pixel art and sprites in all of my games intently, and recreating them on my Mac.

And boy did I have accessories. I ROCKED the original HandyPak, yessir. I felt like the kid in The Wizard who actually owned a Power Glove. Mind blown.

A lovely dress icon perfect for a summer evening. But, let’s be honest, it’s a horrible choice to wear in the dead of winter. I mean, imagine wearing this dress while climbing a mountain in January. That’s just poor planning. It’s also probably a poor choice to wear swimming. You could get away with it at a cocktail party. But definitely not while jumping hurdles. Or alligator wrestling. Yes to a graduation. No to slip n’ slide.

Introducing the Symbolicons Scale Icon. Because it’s a static image, the scale icon is perfect for your weightloss needs. No matter how heavy you get, the icon always shows the same weight. You can now eat whatever you want, whenever you want. Seriously. Stuff yourself with candy and sweets. Carbo-load at every meal. Take two chocolate chip pancakes, spread them with peanut butter, sprinkle on some M&Ms, wrap them in a tortilla, deep fry the tortilla, spread marshmallow fluff on top, add sprinkles, put it all in a blender with eggs, pour into a baking pan, bake, cover the resulting cake with cream cheese frosting, and then stuff it all down your throat.

I know. It sounds delicious. Scale icon FTW.

It’s a syringe icon! I made the tip on this one nice and round, so you won’t get hurt when being stuck with it. Oh, wait. That’s not right. Oops. My suggestion is to definitely NOT use this syringe icon to draw blood. For starters, it’s made of pixels. For, um, seconders, the blunt force of it will be horribly, horribly, painful.

Happy Monday! Here’s a Happy Sun Icon!

I had the honor and pleasure of being a guest on Josh Long and Sarah Parmenter‘s Happy Monday podcast this week. You can listen to the episode here.

We talked a bit about the year of icons project, design processes, and being open to new opportunities, as well as pushing yourself creatively. Josh and Sarah are inspiring in how they’re helping move this industry forward, and are hands-down two of the nicest people on the internet.
